Warrenton, by Kate Brenner
Another in the series “Images of America,” this one is all about our own hometown here in Virginia. It features b&w photographs and a few artworks depicting Warrenton and various personages involved with it, from the Revolutionary War hero Joseph Warren, killed at the Battle of Bunker (Breed’s) Hill and the town’s namesake, to Jackie Kennedy Onassis. Many buildings are still standing; others were wiped out in various fires, including the Great Fire of 1909 which nearly took out the courthouse as well as a great deal of the northwestern part of town. This is not a history per se but a picture book, so text is limited to captions with the photos.
