Jericho Turnpike - The Second Northern Invasion- Foxhunting in Virginia Then and Now, published by the Warrenton Antiquarian Society
Storied Route of Foxhunting from New York to Virginia. The “meat” of this booklet is an article reprinted from the November 1930 issue of Fortune on the New Yorkers who descended upon Virginia at the beginning of the 20th century and became the core of the Orange County Hunt in Middleburg. Tommy Lee Jones wrote a modern followup to that article. Also included is a centerfold of the art of Charlotte Nourse, a Virginia artist now long deceased; an article on the Casanova Hunt, whose kennels are at Nourse’s old home Weston; a 1934 list of organized American hunts; and an article on Weston and Miss Nourse, who was MFH of the Casanova Hunt from 1927 to 1932.
