This book is a must-have for the collector of hunting horns, or anyone interested in the history of their makers in England. Not only is the book itself a collector’s treasure with marbled endpapers and gilt-edged paper, it contains a wealth of information painstakingly retrieved from old newspapers and other sources pertaining to the various makers and some of the horns which can be linked to a particular huntsman. The horns are beautifully photographed, and the author has included a number of photographs of advertisements, shops, and other pertinent information. Many of the manufacturers and shops were affected by the WWII bombings and lost their records, even their existence at that time.
