|Princess - The Early Life of Queen Elizabeth II, by Jane Dismore|
There’s something about royalty that fascinates the average person, as witnessed by the number of tabloids whose journalists eagerly record every burp and hiccup from the royal family. Don’t expect an extended gossip column from this book; Dismore has produced an appropriately dignified biography of the woman who was to become Queen Elizabeth II. “Dignified” does not mean “stuffy,” however. Her Majesty grew up in unsettled times, including the outbreak of World War II and the abdication of Edward VIII. There are b&w photos, but not in effusion.
